name: counter-intel
description: Build interviewer negotiation profiles. Research interviewers before meetings and track signals for offer negotiation. Use before interviews or when preparing for negotiations.

Counter-Intel

Research interviewers and build profiles for better preparation and negotiation leverage.

Purpose

Every interaction with an interviewer reveals signals:
- Their priorities and concerns
- Company urgency (or lack thereof)
- Negotiation leverage points
- Personal style and preferences

This skill systematically captures and uses these signals.

Trigger

Use when:
- User says "counter-intel [name]", "research [interviewer]"
- Before an interview (auto-trigger from /interview-prep)
- Preparing for offer negotiation
- After interview to capture signals

Inputs

  • name: Interviewer name (required)
  • company: Company (required)
  • mode (optional): "research" (pre-interview) or "update" (post-interview)

Workflow

Mode: Research (Pre-Interview)

  1. LinkedIn scan (via browser if available):
  2. Current role and tenure
  3. Career history
  4. Education
  5. Posts/articles (style, interests)

  6. Web search:

  7. Speaking engagements
  8. Published content
  9. News mentions

  10. Vault check:

  11. [[Interviewer Profiles]] for prior interactions
  12. Shared connections from [[Contact Index]]

  13. Build profile:

  14. Background summary
  15. Likely priorities (based on role)
  16. Conversation hooks (shared interests, connections)
  17. Interview style (if known)

Mode: Update (Post-Interview)

  1. Capture interaction signals:
  2. What questions did they ask?
  3. What seemed to matter to them?
  4. How did they react to your answers?
  5. Any urgency signals?
  6. Negotiation hints?

  7. Update [[Interviewer Profiles]]

  8. Extract negotiation intel:

  9. "We've been searching for 6 months" β†’ leverage
  10. "Budget is tight" β†’ lower expectations
  11. "You're perfect for this" β†’ confidence
  12. "We have other candidates" β†’ pressure tactic?
